GPZ500S Exhaust Silencers; Delkevic exhausts

Posted ImagePosted ImageHi Guys,

I have a 1995 GPZ500S with Delkevic PR1875 Silencers fitted.

I had the bike mot'd this week, it passed with 2 advisories, one being "loud exhaust".

The silencers are fitted with the standard delkevic baffles so I rang Delkevic to see if there was a way to quieten the exhaust and was told they supply oversized
baffles which would reduce the db over the standard baffles. There no leaks or holes any where in the system and its not blowing from the manifold so it is just the sound from the silencers.

I ordered 2 oversized baffles and attempted to fit them today, the original baffle came out easy enough but the new ones would not slide in far enough to get the fixing bolt back in, actually about 3 inches too big
and appeared to be hitting solid metal in the silencer.

I removed both silencers from the bike and found the problem, pics attached, phoned Delkevic technical and emailed them the pics and was told the front black tube is not a delkevic part and should not be in there.

Has anyone come across this before.

I decided to cut down the front tubes to accomodate the oversized baffles and refitted everything to the bike, only problem being it doesn't sound any quieter than before.

Thanks for any comments.

Sorry about the pic sizes, tried reducing them.
