Why would anyone in their right mind put this damn thing behind the front wheel. On the CBR it's just below the headlight.....thoughtfully.
So , any one out there with an idea on an effective shield, can let me know. This one I have is fit for the bin.

It does seem a bit mad to put it there what with short mudguards to, only thing I can think of is a guard to protect it. Have a look on here for ideas http://www.beowulfuk.com/default.asp

Thanks for that. Fender extender and a finer mesh me thinks.
By the way this is the resto of my ZZR11. What else does one do over Christmas.?

You can maybe clean it thoroughly with decreaser and then snip the frontmost fins off. The mounting holes is a problem but sure with a large washer it "could" hold.

If you look closely at the fins between the water tubes they are individual fins. Trim the front most off as they seem to be knackered and it would look much nicer.

I’ve decided to discard the aforementioned cooler, and looking around on line most other 1100 second hand coolers are not much better, I did however find a ZZR1200 oil cooler which is virtually identical, same amount of rows (7), same fixing positioning and heaps better condition.
There seem to be two reasons why these corrode so easily, esp in the UK, firstly the salt spewed over the roads at the first hint of frost and snow gets in to crevices ,then the electrolytic reaction between the mild steel spire nuts and the aluminium body of the cooler.
Any way this one isn’t going out in such weather....not at my time of life!
