gpz600r; sticking clutch

Hi Guys, My 1987 600r has been standing for some time, after recommissioning it carbs etc, the clutch is occasionally sticking, so it wants to launch its self when selecting first gear! My question is will this sort its self out with riding the bike or do I have to take more drastic measures?
Also do clutch cables stretch with age, as I'm at the end of the lever adjustment?
Regards Busby

I would change the oil and put a new cable on it and go from there. If its been standing a while the plates could be gummed up but new oil and cable and a few miles under its wheels should sort it out.
