Hi all... new to the forum so howdy all! ... I'm new to biking.. just did my Direct Access last weekend and passed my test on Monday. Bought a used ER-6F with 600 miles on the clock (why do people sell bikes with such low mileage??). Everything is going fine but on the bike there is some vibration around the dials/screen area at around 2500-3000 rpm. I can see the previous owner has put tape there etc. so he must also have noticed the problem. Anyone else had something like this? Can anyone suggest a course of action? I am about to buy a flip up screen (powerbronze or Kawasaki original) so I'll tighten screws etc. then... but it does spoil what seems to be a perfect bike for me.

Cheers all , Andy :D

Hi Andy, congratulations on passing your test, I did mine in the summer and bought a new er6-f! I don't seem to have the vibration problem, could be that they didn't fit the fairing correctly, give it a once over when you fit the new screen. I did some motorway miles and got alot of wind blast. Was also considering a flip up screen, let me know if you notice any difference, would be interested in the results before buying. How much did you pay for the bike? (just being nosy). all the best & ride safe. Greg :228

Hi. There is a known problem with vibration from the fairing in the clock area. My dealer actually asked me if I had any problems with it. I hadn't at the time but its rattling a bit now so they're going to have a look at it for me.
Suggest you take it to your local dealer to investigate the problem - good luck!

hi guys i get the vibes to at around 4000rpm. i figure its resonance from the engine as its inherantly 'vibey' being a twin. i have used some self amalgamating tape as a 'bead' at the fairing joints. it has worked to some effect but still occasionaly get some fairing vibes.

any other suggestions?

Hi again... apologies for not replying sooner.... Bike cost me £3300 and I bought it sight unseen :-)

Bike's going in on Tuesday next week to have the Kawasaki anti-vibration kit fitted (under warranty of course).

Will let you know if it makes a difference

Andy

Hi, did the anti vibration kit make any difference? Might give my dealer a call...

by the way, very good price you got, someone else took a mighty slap round the chops in the way of depreciation.

How are you getting on with the bike?

Cheers. Greg

Anti vibration kit made a massive difference! I would say that 95% of all the vibration is now gone and I'm extremely happy. The dealer showed me the kit (it's the second one Kawasaki has released) and it's basically a freezer bag full of sticky padding.. Dealer had to take apart the whole front end and apply these pads. Took about an hour for them to do. I did find a couple of the screws weren't done up very tightly when I got home but they didn't cause any vibration and I simply did them up myself. On the whole, very happy indeed.
