I think that this is a wierd thing that only happens once in a while. Especially when your getting on it. I had the same thing happen on my ZX-11, but the other day I was riding a Katana and the same thing happened.

So I dont know the answer.

Hope this helps.

Hi maddog, Yes its one of those things. I had a ZX6R (98 G1 23K miles) and got a few false neurtals. I think it was between 2nd & 3rd and 5th & 6th. A bit of a pain when your pulling away!!

I now have a 2001 ZX9R (17K miles) and have hit one a few times between 3rd & 4th.

I think the trick is to make sure you make very possitive changes and not be too lazy. I tend to find them when I'm not paying too much attention. :dff

+1 its only been a few years for me, but everyone ive had had a false neutral somewhere at sometime.

Usually i get a false neutral on my z1k downshifting from 5-4 or 4-3, but only if im downshifting lightly.

only got a false neutral once on upshift from 3-4. when i change my oil (dino) gearbox feels fine, after 1k miles it gets noticeably louder.
