Hello All, I am in the final throws of rebuilding my old GT550 to pave the way for an new arrival. Before I kill myself with rage and frustation how is it possible to fit the carb air filter inlet rubbers? I have struggled for hours but nothing works - i.e fitting rubbers first then trying to squeeze a 6 inch wide object into a 4 inch gap. Is it worth sourcing some jubilee clips to fix the rubbers on to the carbs first rather than the completely useless springs as fitted? AT which point is it easiest to fit the throttle cable? Also which way round do the rubbers go? Two of the rubbers appear to be slightly longer than the other two and have small lugs on. help!!!

Hi I've not got a book for the bike in question, but I do a couple of tricks concerning fitting carb rubbers (I too find them very frustrating to fit). If you check the mantenaince section on my site and check the tips page "having trouble with your rubbers?" The two longer rubbers are for 1 & 4 pots & the lugs are to let you know which way the rounds should be position on the carb. Hope tyhat ![]() Si www.dogdragons.com |
