hi, does the gpz500s 1992 A6 have an oil coold flywheel and stator ? i was told by a kawasaki mechanic, but just want to check. thanks sean.m |

I havn't seen a manual for this model but I guess it's very like the EX500. The generator is not as you believed cooled by oil although the oil will dissapate some heat it is the lubrication which lessens the friction between to the moving parts.friction calls heat making metal components expand and this is what causes seizing. It is not run in oil, I.e. it is not emersed in oil, but a little oil gets onto some parts to keep the moving parts lubricated. There should be an oilway connecting the sump/crank/gearbox sections of the engine. So if you mechanic has said it runs as a wet genrator he is right. A dry generator as I have on my RX1000 iis usualy seperate and external to the crankcases. Hondas and suzuks usualy run dry generators, but these don't look to be external) I hope that answers your question. SI www.dogdragons.com |
