Anyone out there let me know what mileage they are getting out a rear tyre on the 2008 ZZR1400. I have Bridgestones, I'm not doing any burnouts just riding and I need a new tyre after just 1500 miles.

My back tyre is starting to square off a little bit at 4000 miles, but I was getting 12000 out of a pair of tyres on my old Sprint RS, so I'm looking to get between 6000 and 8000 out of these. Of course, as always, YMMV ;-) Phil K |

Managed to get 2000 miles out of the rear Bridgestone 014 (first 1000 miles running in). Expecting 1500 miles out of the second. May replace with Avons next time, but I like the Bridgestone. |

Are you serious? 4000 miles out of a bike this size? I only get 3000 on my 636, but I ride it hard.

I think I posted up this Bridgestone tyre information somewhere within this site a while back but cannot find it unfortunately, so here is a link to my own forum thread on the subject. http://shipponsmcc.21.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=73 The advice/information is from Bryn Phillips formerly the Tyre Technical Specialist for Bridgestone UK so you should get a useful insight. Hope this helps.

hi i have a zzr1400 08 abs, and have had 4500 miles out the back tyre and 6800 out the front they were bridgestones bt104's , i have been told that if you use any other tyre and have an accident your insurance may refuse a claim, as the 014's are rated for th bike and at the min no other tyre is rated for it, this is only what i have been told , not sure how true it is, i am trying to find out , |

The BT14's that where fitted when I bought mine (ZZR1400 2007) lasted about 1500 miles. Then I tried the Pirelli Diabolo Strada because I used to have that tire on my previous bikes (ZZR100) and that lasted about 5000 miles... I use my bike also for home-work travel so I need a tire that can manage many boring highway/motorway/autobahn miles. At advice of a friend I tried Michelin Pilot Road II. This tire lasted an amazing 8500 miles but for me it has the wrong feel when diving into a fast bend... Just didn't feel like i could trust it... So back to the Pirelli's but the have been replaced by the new Pirelli Angel ST so that what the bike is on at the moment. The feel is ok, the milage also (about the same as the Diabolo Strada's) but on te sides appear a strange wavy pattern. I consulted a kawasaki racingteam mechanic for this and he thinks that this happens when pulling full-power out of a bend (yes that is what I like to do :) ). He thinks the tire cannot manage the power and kind of wrinkles... with the wave-pattern on the side as result. So I am not sure what to do now. I will continue using the Pirelli because of the milage and the feel, but if another tire comes along that can handle the power and lasts long enough i'll switch. |

I'm getting 6000 to out of Angel ST Rear and have done 12000 on the Angel ST Front Which still has 3mm tread left.. Riding year round lots of Motorway Quite a bit of A Road lots of wet weather.. heavy use of rear brake.. Occaisional burn ups.. Great Year round tyre.. The rear slides predictably on the power out of bends.. Still I'm changing them to Michelins .. Pilot Power or Road Possibly Dunlop Roadsmarts next to see what I might be missing.. Verdict .. Milage V. Good.. Dry Handlin OK Wet Handling OK.. Nothing amazing but good all round tyres.. I got 2200 out of the original rear .. Wet Motorway Riding including Running in.. Rubbish IMHO... S |

Oh yes - I'm just at the point where I need to replace my second set of BT021s, having got 12000 out of each pair (yes, I know, 24000 miles in 2 years). Now looking around as the 021s are a bit pricy, but at that sort of mileage it may well be another pair. Phil K |

Just changed from BT 016 to Avon Storm ST2 which I believe from my tyre bloke are rated for the ZZR 1400, so far so good. Managed nearly 6k out of the old rear BT 016 but it really needed changing, badly squared off, truth is I probable changed it about 1000 too late |

I do not have the ZZR1400 but have a GT 1400 and had the same problem. Have fitted Meitzlar all round and will get about 6 to 7,000 from the rear and possibly about the same or more from the front. |
