I have got to get a new set of tyres for my 1998 ZX9R C1. I want a tyre that will stick as the Dunlops i have got now give me no confidence and also want a tyre that will do a few miles as going on the spain/france tour next year. Any suggestions would be great as there are so many out there and im not sure what is best to go with Thanks for any help

most peole seem to go for bridgestones but i find that avon storms give both excellent grip and long life. |

I agree with TNT, Bridgstones are a good bet, stick well and have a fairly long life...although I only got 2000 miles from my new 021 I put on the back. Front 020 lasting longer 4000 miles. Avon storms do last long and have a fantastic grip, wet or dry, I used them last year and did 90,000 miles or so on them, they seem to have more rubber to start with. Ok..i was replacing them every 5 weeks, but with the kind of milage i was doing....3-5000 a month. Not bad really and I was replacing them before i needed to because I didnt want to get stuck...as it was my job.....yes...a long distance urgent bike courier. I have done 300, 000 miles in the last 3 years and the Avons where my best overall tyre.

I was reluctant to fit any other tyre than a bridgestone, coz its stick with what you know! But when my local garage suggested the Avon storm i took his advice and i'm glad i did. The Avons seem to give me the confidence in the wet the Bridgestones didn't...which means this typical British summer doesn't have to ruin my riding!!
