anyone got any ideas to gain more power on my zx7r 1998, its only covered 2000 miles and is mint,i havent got a can on yet,and the only thing that i have done is jack the rear suspension up 10mm |

hello bud i would start with a can (preferably with removable decibel killer) and a k&n filter ,that should free up a couple of horses

Hi, It depends on you're budget and how you intend to use your 7R ? Assuming you're a road rider then a fairly cheap method is to gear your bike down with either a smaller front or bigger rear sprocket - most people choose a smaller front sprocket but a bigger rear one's fine if your chain & guard can accommodate it. No extra power's produced but your bike will FEEL more responsive everywhere because the engine will rev quicker. The down-sides are that your fuel consumption will increase and top speed reduce - suggest 5-7% down-gearing. A replacement end-can will be more expensive & may need a replacement air filter and carb jets to re-balance fuel/air flows to get noticeable power gains. If money's not a issue then you may want to do all of the above together with an electronic ignition advancer. Only try one modification at a time & then go for a ride to see what difference has been made. I would also suggest two Dyno sessions - one before and one after all the planned changes to compare fuel/air, power & torque figures & where gains/losses of any have been made throughout the rev range. If you're predominately a road rider (like most of us) then I would stop there - changes to engine internals can get expensive and may sacrifice some of your bike's rideability.
