Perhaps some of you know each other already, but would you mind introducing yourself again?

Would you also include your ride and how long you've been doing it!

Here goes I'll start ......

My name is Julie, I've recently returned to the UK after 25 years in the USA (I am British by birth). Yes, I know I must be mad, but its a long story about a disabled teen we have. Better to be here with extended family than 6000 miles away in Oregon, by ourselves. My hubby rides BMW. We also have a son in the US Marines currently in Iraq

I have only been riding for 2-1/2 years (and 4 months of that was a non-starter because my bike was in a container being shipped across and another 3 months messing with MOT/VOSA/HM Customs and DVLA) but love it. I particularly like the concentration required, then I have to turn off all the other c---p going on in my head. Anyway she is legal here now, so I have to line up nurse care for the teen to be able to get out and about.

I have a Ninja 500 (model in US is EX500D) I guess the closest UK model is an older EN500 or ER500. She's a pretty metallic titanium color.

I would post a pic here, but I don't know how to yet
:256

Anyway, maybe we can chat about things here that concern us gals without boring the guys.

Hi i'm Tracy and ride a ZX400 c2 (GPZ400) 1987. I passed my test 15th August this year, lost nearly a week waiting for insurance documents and then another couple of weeks through a hole in my tank. Anyway new tank, carbs had a couple of good clean outs and he's running fine.

My husband rides a BMW R80Rt 1982 and as we have a 3 year old son, to go out together on the bikes means babysitter (thats where my 18 year old daughter comes in).

I love the freedom feel you get when riding, just wish i'd done it all earlier!

We take part in quite a few charity rides and have even set up our own... check out the website R80rt Here you can read a bit more about me.

Enough about me
Who's up next.......................................

Hi Lucy
how did you get on with the Direct Access test, or whatever it is that I also have to take soon, on a 500cc bike?

addendum to me ....
I passed my motorcycle theory test today. :444

that hazard perception thing is ... well good I suppose (since I passed!) You have to remember, I left UK in 1981 with my good ole paper license. I've since upgraded it to the plastic card, but because of US motorcycle license I've got to do all the tests again.

Now I've just got to figure out how to get Direct Access done and find care for Natasha during that time.

Hi all,

Julie, congratulations on passing your theory test :res . You don't have to do your test on a 500cc. I passed my direct access on a 125cc. Just means you have to ride 'restricted' to that for 2 years, then you can increase to whatever engine size you want. The Virago 535 Dave bought me as a birthday presi (very lucky me!) we discovered had been restricted to 33bhp so I was able to ride it for the 2 years then get it de-restricted (which didn't make a lot of difference so I guess I still had most of the power anyway). It was the day that was happening that we went 'tyre kickin' and I found the ZZR600, so upgraded to something with a bit(?) more power.

Ann, I don't think the ER-6N is ugly. I certaInly loved the Candy Green, which they don't do on the ER-6F, but I guess the fared version is prettier! Mine is black (must get hubby to post some photos).

HI.... I,m Dawn and fairly new to riding, I passed my test on a 125 in July and have just bought my first big bike, a ER6F... have to say it was pretty scarey riding it home from Blackpool to Southport in gale force winds...

Hi Dawn :789 . Well done on the ER-6F, I got mine in May, collected it on a Saturday and she had her first service in Nantes France on the Friday! Mine is also Black. Getting used to riding in windy conditions is challenging, especially on a fared bike, but I find the faster you go, the easier it is! Best is no wind at all tho'.

If you passed on a 125 is your ER6 restricted then? I also passed on a 125 and had a Virago 535 restricted for the first 2 years, then got a ZZR600 which is a lot faster.

Hi. I'm Patty. I just moved to Seattle, Washington USA!!! I got my Ninja 250 in late ''07. I love it. I took the motorcycle class in Wisconsin and did not have to take anything, but the written test at the DMV. But now that I have moved to Washington, I wonder if they will make me test again??? None of you can help me because you all live across the big pond.

I love my little sport bike. I have been out on it three or four times since moving here in January. Too much snow in Wisconsin.

I always feel like wonder woman, when I gear up in all my leather. And the men go gaga, when I take my helmet off. Riding my bike makes me feel so good! I feel sexy, beautiful and alive.

I would like to get a little bigger bike. I'm all of 112 pounds and 5'5" and can barely push this little bike around. I'm thinking the 500. I love the sport bikes. Mine is so cute, but I can't keep up with the boys! And she really just doesn't have all the power a girl wants. I get the most pleasure screaming through the gears. Is that hard on a bike?

I've been on the back of motorcycles all my life, but the front is so much better. And Kawasaki's are reasonable and with all the racing knowledge behind them... I can't believe I waited so long to get a bike. I just always thought they were out of my price range. And I love the mpg. I get 65 mpg most of the time and sometimes 73 on the freeways.

I shipped my bike. That was the longest 10 days of my life. I was so afraid she would return to me damaged, but she's as cute as can be...

Forgive me... Sleepless in Seattle. Have a great day!

Hello everyone,
Having only passed my test 6 months ago ish, I'm still very much a baby rider! I brought a ducati monster as my first ride, mainly because I'm fairly short and needed to feel safe when I touched down! I then came across a ninja zx6 for sale, older model but in great nick and as a favourite of my dads thought I'd try her! What a different ride! Definately a kawasaki fan now....
Only problem is, I unfortunately don't get to practice very often as I work away in the week and only get weekends. (by which time there is 101 things on my list to do!!)
I live in West Sussex by the way and now am looking for a job closer to home!! x

Hi

I am a 'biker' of many years however the last 9 have been on a BMW C1 scooter. Yes, the one with the roof! :D
Me and 'Im indoors bought a beautiful Kawasaki VN800 last year and sadly I have not been on it more than a few times as
I cracked my ankle at work (fell of a kerb, how embarrassing is that) and so no whizzing around on two wheels for me. Now I am mended, the weather is warmer and the VN will be in use once more. We have just bought a windscreen for her as I am a bit of
a softie after all the protection the C1 provides in the winter. Has anyone got a very large shoe-horn to help me squeeze into my motorcycle pants? :444

Hello Ladies!
I'm Sharon, 34, a dog breeder & groomer in Birmingham. I had a scooter at 16 (many years ago) but then passed my car test a year later and forgot about bikes til last September when i suddenly had the urge to get a proper bike with gears, the price of fuel also helped sway me towards two wheels B)
Bought a Pioneer Nevada 125 cruiser and did my CBT, rode for exactly 12 months then sold the 125 to fund my DAS as i'd already bought myself my current ride. Passed my DAS 4 weeks ago and now riding my new baby, Kawasaki Eliminator ZL400 and am absolutely loving it. I really miss my plastic chinese cruiser though so i've just done a deal on a 250cc version of the same bike and going to collect her from London 23rd of this month YAYYYY!
I have done a couple of charity rides on my 125 and always looking out for more, also ride-outs with anyone round the west mids area. I did BMF, Kelso & Tail End shows this year and can't wait to be able to make more next year now i can travel further and use motorways :693
Hubby is about to join me when he does his DAS soon, at least i wont feel so guilty when i get ready to go out for a ride just for the sheer joy of it and to feel alive and free :chop

Hello Ladies,

My name is Sam and I live in the cold of Northumberland. I have been riding on and off since I passed my test in Aug 2008. I did Direct Access.

I used to have a VFR400 NC30 Grey but decided to upgrade to a new bike this year; so I brought myself a shiny new lime green ER6F ABS. Sadly I then had a ankle op 3 days later and my husband rode it over the summer. Just to "break it in" he kept saying; yeah over 900 "oops" miles. It has now done 1500 miles so I am slowly overtaking what he put on the clock.

We mainly ride around the east coast of northumberland but with the weather changing, textiles are diffo in force (thermals included). Laughed very loudly at my friend the other day when we went out, she has a ZX6R '09' reg and everything has to match. Black bike, black leathers, helmet, boots etc etc. Very fashion pleasing and the best bit she wont wear textiles because and I quote " They make you look fat, male and they are so not fashionable". So anyway, we were on our ride when we stopped and asked how everyone was, (group of 4 all in textiles apart from fashion girl) she said she wasnt cold and that she didnt know what all the fuss was about, lying cow. You could see she was freezing, her lips were blue! Later she admitted as much and is now looking at ladies textiles that are "fitted" yawn.

Take care and watch out on the roads. "oops" car drivers. :693

Sam x

My name is Janet and I'm a brand new Kawasaki owner. I have a 2006 KLX 250. I joined the site to get information about the bike. I've had my motorcycle endorsement for 4 years now and ride mostly on Forest Service roads, a little on trails, and some on the road. Our favorite family activity is camping and riding. My boys and husband ride on trails, all have KTM 2 strokes. We are in north Idaho and are members of PANTRA, Panhandle Trail Riders Association, so have many opportunities to ride with others. My friend, Sherri rides a KX100 and is teaching me to trail ride. Since my previous bike (1983 h***a XL 200 was smaller and more suited to roads instead of trails, I'm expecting to increase my skill riding in the woods. My husband is starting to talk about riding dual sport, as the trails are hard on his shoulder. It seems like we will move in that direction in the future. :kawas

Hi,

I'm 36 (37 in a couple of weeks!!) I have only just got around to passing my bike test, always wanted to just never knew how. Now I wish I'd done it years ago. I've had a ZZR and now I have a ZX6R which I love. My hubby has a cruiser and he has only just passed too. I feel so alive when I'm riding, I ride every chance I get - except in the snow, haven't plucked the courage up for that yet.

I'm in Southampton til March when we move back into our house in Dunstable, Beds.

I work as a pub manager and have three girls. My eldest will be taking her CBT soon and getting a scooter for her birthday.
Not much else to say except 'Hi to everyone'

:P Hello,
I have a black Ninja 250. I got it in September. Previously I had a cbr125r. My Ninja 250 is great, I have just added a few extra's. A hugger, fender extender, pipercross air filter and MTC end can. I mostly ride to and from work in Portsmouth, but I am hoping that now my husband has a new bike (CBR1100 Blackbird) that we will get to go out for some social rides together. One thing we are looking forward to later this year is riding to Silverston to see the British round of the MotoGP.
If you know of anybody who is looking to buy a CBR125r let me know as I am selling mine. I live near Portsmouth, Hants.

I have been looking for an ER-6f in white and by some miracle the local shop has one and is keeping it for me till I pass my test. It would have been better if they had found it after I passed but can't look a gift horse in the mouth and all that. Does anyone have any advice as to what extras I should get for it? Its got an alarm imobaliser and crash bungs so far.

Hi Kerry-Anne and :199 I was speaking to a lady that was riding a white ER6F just a fortnight ago, she loved the bike and it was her second ER6F!! I think you have got pretty much everything you need for the bike, a tail pack might come useful on a long day (sandwiches, pop etc) maybe?
