Hi there. I have a Kawasaki Eliminator 250, 1991. Is very sluggish and jerky especially in lower gears. In first gear, betweem 3000 and 4000 RPM is a struggle to get her going, in second is between 5000 and 6000 RPM. I have cleaned the carbs more times than I can remember, cleaned the sparkplugs too, but it does not seem to make any difference. She's very thirsty too, I hardly manage 100 miles on a tank, and I think that's pretty bad. I had another EL250 before and I used to get 130miles out of a tank before going into reserve. I learned recently that the engines they put in the EL's are the same they put in Ninjas 250 and I tried to be a bit more aggresive in my riding but that didn't change anything. Can anyone give me any ideas what could the cause be?

Just a thought m8 but try adjusting your fuel/air screw, if the screw is too far out it will be using up too much fuel and making your bike run rich, which would also eeffect your bikes performance.

Don't know if you've solved your problem.Check your plugs. If they are black you are running rich.I have a Ninja 250R and can get between 300 to 460 miles to a tank. The capacity of which is 3.7 gallons. |
