hi all . anybody know about ar frames ? .i have found an early ar50/80 frame witch is new and unused and apart from some light rust is well sorted .i am told that it is from an 81/82 model that they only produced for 1/2 years witch makes it as rare as hens teeth and worth a few quid to a restorer . any ideas of its value cos its no good to me as i want an later model frame . ta muchy burt . |

Hi there, you're right the older frame is rather scares, you can tell the difference at the front foot pegs. The older frame has rigid foot pegs, which is basically a stud that is inserted from the outside and bolted on the inside through a tubular aperture with the foot peg rubber simply just pressed onto the protruding stud. The later model frames have brackets welded onto the frame allowing the foot peg to be lifted upwards should you be brave enough to scrape the pegs on a 50. As for the value I really do not know, you will need a die-hard restorer to pay serious money for it. Here in South Africa, maybe around R500 (50GBP) |
