No shouldn't have done, that's just the 'safe' minimum. When the level drops out of sight then start worrying !. Regards, Dick Scratcher. |

no it should be ok (see dick scratchers reply ) riding it hard or not will make little difference if the oil is low , another point is how many miles have you done since it was last checked as this may indicate a problem if its not many |

Reading this thread reminded me of a weekend off work and I had about 20 years back and attended a bike rally in northern Netherlands on a Z200 (!) because my other (larger) bike was off the road. I left Stafford on the friday, ferry to the Hook went north over the Isselmeer, 'did' the rally, trailed all the way back to the Hook in Hellishly windy conditions (in third gear some of the time, arrived back in Harwich, and thought I'd better check the oil. I couldn't see any sign at all in the 'window'. Thinking it wouldn't need much I bought the least amount available at the filling station, one litre, thinking I'd dump any I didn't need in their rubbish. It took the lot and it still didn't come up to the 'high' mark , I'd been riding with about 1/2 litre of oil in there, must have kept it pretty busy. Arrived back in Stafford on the monday having done the thick end of 900 miles in four days, drained the oil, refilled with fresh stuff and rode it for years after, no apparent harm done. Regards to all, Dick Scratcher. |
