Hello all,am thinking of getting a zx9r,but having not had one before would like to know what they are like to live with, would especially like to know how they are to ride, only having owned your sit up and beg type bike I am thinking that maybe I will be hunched over all the time and getting saw wrists especially on longer journeys, your input would be much appreciated

Hi mate, i've just joined and this is my first post ! i have got a 94 b1 zx9r and i love it. my advice is dont think about it JUST DO IT ! my b1 is a bit of a pig at very slow speeds due to its 216kg dry weight but when you get going its fine, it has plenty of power and handles very well for its size. long journeys are ok (you'll never get the comfort of a sit up and beg) but i dont have any problems with it. which model were you thinking of? the later models are lighter and bit easier to live with i think. hope this

the only realistic way to find out is to test ride one an see if it suits you or not

I've got a C1 model and had it now for over 5-years. I can't fault it as - while we all wish for a modern 1000cc motorcycle - the ZX9R makes a sensible choice for anyone. Have a look at for more info.....http://www.zx-9r.net/phpBB2/index.php?sid=...489297e13f67ca1 |

Hi, Just bought a C1 model 1998. Only ridden it to the MOT and back(40 miles ),but even on knackered tyres it was very comfortable. Not to bad on the wrists through the town.Certainly easy to ride.As I said due to the tyre issue I didnt push too much but easily went past the 70mph(110) without any effort. Was with an R6 for company and kept up with him no problems.(I test rode one a few years ago and them R6s are damn fast little machines) You can pick up a good one for less than 2k now C1/C2. Get one with full history and low miles. Iam planing to go touring on mine through europe next year, and have some fun when I get there so the ZX9R was for me the best choice, comfort, speed, easy to service/get parts for, cheap to buy. These bikes will still do 160+ so as an allrounder I think they are one of the best bikes out there.(did try ZZr and ZX12r but found them to big for me I am only 5'6"with little legs.) Hope this you mateBoyo |
