I have had my 2008 Z750 for a few months now after passing my test in November last year whilst I am getting more confident in the corners the bike seems vague and I do not feel confident in leaning over very far in the corners. I am running the stock suspension settings and I am sure these could be improved, but dont really know where to start can anyone help with this issue or know of a suspension setup expert in the South West? Thanks Tom

I am no expert by any means .. but I am new to riding just started last year and rode all year.. I belive the leaning in the turns just comes from comfort.. I am shure a proper setup for you would be best but you should still be able to lean her over and hug a turn I had never rode a motercycle till I went to take my saftey class They had me riding on a 300 suzike enduro (street legal dirt bike) and by the end of the first day i was almost draging my knee through the turns. Thas where The instructor asked me "so you wanna be a crusier rider"? I replyed yea all my friends HD'd and I will ride with them .. Guess What I started out on a h***a nighthawk 650 and loved it .. It didnt take me two weeks and I was draging pipe in the turns on that old beast. So before you spend a lot of money setting it up get some more expierence... and maby try riding in a empty parking lot doing turns and trying to feel secure in a leaned turn.. then spend the cash if you think you need to.. Just my 2 cents

Hi, I like the Z750 but to be cheap enough when new Kawasaki fitted budget suspension which has little adjustment. The forks dive due to insufficient damping & the fork spring's a bit too stiff so I'd try changing the fork oil from the standard 10 w to 15 w. The rear shock's spring is far too hard (assuming your around average weight) so I'd reduce preload (if it has any adjustment for that) & increase the rear shock's rebound adjustment to maximum then take it for a ride to see if you notice any difference. Maxton & Hagon both do much better suspension components (& Maxton I believe will re-spring standard shocks but you might want to check on this) for around £300 - £400 that will transform your bike's handling, your confidence & enjoyment on the bike - thoroughly recommended. |

mine has had a maxton overhaul of front and back suspension and the back raised to quicken the steering and it works really well , its an older model than yours but it would have the same effect , tho you would probably be better off waiting till the better weather and get more miles in first as the tyres are not going to inspire confidence in the cold and damp , you will find it much better when its warmer as the tyres will grip much more , and also worth looking at some different tyres first maybe , much cheaper than the suspension and can make a huge amount of difference too

you could always try changing the angle of the handlebars and brake and clutch levers or even change the handebars for a different set such as renthals , it sounds silly but can make an amazing amount of difference to how things feel when you are riding

Hi Tom, I've owned my current Z750(08) from new having done a couple of summers on it and covered over 8000 miles, still love it because its fun to ride. On stock tyres, trye pressures and original suspension set up i can still push through the corners. The Z's suspension is budget and not the best but only starts to show its weakness when pushed hard but up to this piont its still fun to ride. I'm in my 8th year of riding and the Z still does me fine. only recently has my riding ability out done the ability of the bike, remember get some temp in the tyres on a hot day before you start to push Have Fun. |

Hi Phil, Not at the moment, I've thought long and hard about what else to get but still keep coming back to the Z maybe something like a sport/tourer next or updating my old h***a that I use for work for maybe an older ZX6 but will not afford this year.
