Hi Guys anybody got an ideas,my Zep has done 21000 miles but now wont rev above 7000rpm. Max speed obtainable is 70 mph. It has stood for a while every now and then, could it be gummed up carbs?

I should start by looking at the plugs, sounds like it might be running rich, if the plugs are black then that would confirm it ....clean or replace the air filter? the plugs should be the same colour as a digestive biscuit (WITHOUT CHOCLATE)

yep carbs if you are going to leave your bike standing put some fuel stabiliser in the tank run for a few minutes and it will be ok next time
but you are going to need to strip them now

Hi
my first thought is Have you removed the airfilter box or fitted coned filters
the bike run as you have described if the air box is removed and the cards arent rejetted to suite

Regards
John

if its been stood then you need to strip and clean the carbs as when the petrol evaporates then it leaves a residue that blocks the jets and airways
