2004 Vulcan 2000 slippage; Slips in 1st and 2nd gear

When accellerating quickly in 1st and 2nd gears, the clutch acts like it is momentarily slipping. It only does it in these two gears. This same phenomen occurred with my 1996 Vulcan 1500. In an attempt to cure this problem with the 1500, I replaced all the clutch plates and the slipper clutch springs. The problem remained. Does anyone have an answer?

I hate to ask but is it adjusted right?
What kind and weight of oil do you use in them.

I believe I have the clutch adjusted right, it works really well. I am using 10W40 motorcycle synthetic. One shop test drove it and said the engagement dogs are worn. To fix the problem would cost at least $1900. The bike had 15,250 miles when I bought. I have put 1000 miles on it and the problem has not gotten worse.

That would do it. It's quite a job to fix it you would need to pull the motor and have a shop manual for your bike on hand.
