hi i got a 2004 zrx1200r i have a after market end can( sounds and looks great), but now when i back off the throttle it starts popping like a machine gun it did it with the std can but not so loud i hear its something to do with emission control so is there any way of by-passing or do i have to reach for the baffle

I am led to believe that the 'Popping' noise is mainly due to the KLEEN air system (Octopus) that feeds air into the airbox, from the top of the motor through reed valves. It's an emission thing. A lot of people remove this and replace with Ivan block off plates. Again I believe this will not cure the popping but will reduce it. Another possible reason is a leak on the exhaust system either at the head or where the can fastens on. Its also possibly mixtures. I would suggest NOT to mess with these but to get a fuel run done on a dyno. If you mess with it yourself and get it wrong you could end up holing pistons etc. A reasonable indication to fuel probs would be look at your plugs and compare to this http://www.beru.com/english/produkte...gnosehilfe.php. My ZRX pops with my aftermarket exhaust and I must be honest I quite like it. Hope this is of help gorillagar Edited by kaptainkwak, Jul 28 2010, 08:24 PM.

Hi my zrx used to do this when I first put an after market can on it cured it by taking the clean air valve on top of the rocker cover off and blocking the hoses its just an over run thing and doesn't cause any harm so Im led to believe

I have an aftermarket can and filter as well as the ivans block off to get rid of the octopus and it still pops and farts and I love it my modded bandit 1200 did the same it's just unburnt fuel igniting perfectly normal....
