hi everyone. i have a zzr 1100 d5 which i love, but the riding position is a bit low for an old man like me. i have heard that the bars from a GTR 100o will bolt straight on to give a more upright position. does anyone have any advice in this area? thanks. also - while im here - any advice about improving the braking? it already has braided lines, are there any calipers that could bolt straight on? phill

Finding taller bars which are a direct mechanical bolt on is easy. The problem is usually the length of control cables, hydraulic hoses, and wire harnesses. Even with a little extra heigth they become stretched, so be absolute sure they can handlle the extra length, and remember they need a slack to allow the steering head to turn.

The brakes on the ZZR should be excellent out of the box. Are you sure don't have some air in the system?

think there will be enough length to handle slightly higher bars. any suggestions which to go for? thanks.

the front brakes, i dont think are as good as they could be for a bike this powerful. the ones on it it now have been bled and work OK, but i think the bike needs better.

Don't know where you are located. Am in the States and don't have experience with the ZZR1100, which I believe has clip-ons over the triple clamp. I had a '2k ZX9R with clip-ons under the triple clamp so I went to www.helibars.com that actually sells the raisers. The closest ZZR1100 equivalent in the States would be the ZX1200.

About the brakes, if you already went with braided lines, then only 6 pot calipers, and/or radial master cylinder could be thought out as an improvement, but if the system has been opened, I suspect it was never brought back to its original stiffness, which is very difficult to do with two calipers. One-caliper responds quickly to bleeding, two not so easy, I am still struggling with mine after I changed seals on my front pots.

Why change the bars? Try these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Genmar-Handlebar-risers-Kawasaki-ZZR-1100-All-Years_W0QQitemZ190480516999QQcmdZViewItem?rvr_id=196953111385&rvr_id=196953111385&cguid=f6525ef312c0a0aad4819d91ff09026c Put a pair on the wife's ZZR600

Hi, not to sure id change my riding position as im a young 45..lol...but good look with that. Ive just had new brakes and they should take about 150 miles to bed in but thet are spongy at the moment....With your front brake try pulling it in and using a cable ty to secure it as this helps to get rid of some air bubbles. Other than that your brakes should be really good so check for contamination on the pads...Roy
