hi guys just wondering if anyone could give me any tips? im having trouble with my bike. it starts fine runs fine but keeps cutting out with oil light coming on. ive recently hadf the carbs flushed after it happend last time but still happens. a mate of mine thats into motor cross seems to think it could be down to head gasket going? if it is down to head gasket would it be easy to change myself or get a garage to do it? or would i be better of dropping an newer engine in thanks in advance andy |

If it was a head gasket you would know, and coolant would be leaking in or out, and your oil may become milky. The fact somebody 'flushed' the carbs, does not mean they were cleaned properly, and bowl level adjusted. Even though carb gumming this is mostly a problem if bike has been left sitting many weeks. Have you thought of ignition coils, spark plugs, spark plugs caps, or leads. Am assuming oil light is coming on because of/and after engine is cutting. If light is coming on with engine on revs, oil pump may be bad. Edited by hugojose, Mar 5 2011, 08:15 PM.

hi yanto no its had fully synthetic every time by the previous owner and ive changed it a couple times since ive had it. it seems to be running ok at the moment but can smell a slight burning smell so def think head gaskets going as its used a bit of coolent recently |
