Hello I'm new to this site I bought a 1981 z750 e model and I have spent the last year doing it up. I have a problem with my gears which I was hoping someone out there has experienced the same problem or has an idea of the problem. When changing up into 2nd it goes into neutral or in between neutral and 2nd this only happens after about 10 mins of riding when I go to change up again the lever is solid and I have to change down and back up again after 3 or 4 attempts it finally finds 2nd gear. This only happens when engine is hot if I leave bike to cool for 10 mins it's fine again until it gets hot, weird please can someone help thanks. I have tried new oil.

whats your chain tension like matey, im rebuilding a kz750 as we speak.
other than that i would look at the clutch.
also what oil spec are you running fully or semi synthetic?
good luck hope you get it sorted. there are always teething problems at the end of rebuilds.
Mark.

Hi mark
Thanks for the reply. Not sure what you mean by chain tension or what chain you mean I am not machanicly minded the only chain I know is the one that goes round the sprockets, if this is not the chain you mean then how do I find it and check it your help would be very appreciated.
The oil is semi synthetic and I will get the clutch checked out thanks, the gears are a bit clunky so hopefully it is the clutch. cheapest fix
Thank again
Danny

hi danny , yeah chain and sprockets, if chain tension is too tight it will make it difficult change gear.
thats where i would start as its easy.
then i would check the clutch is releasing properly.
let us know how you get on. :D
