Hi, I have a z550 dragged out of a shed after 20 years, bike now sorted and mot ed but has a rattle at tickover, is this the famous clutch rattle. I have removed the clutch plates and notice the clutch basket seems to be driven by pins from the gear behind and there is a lot of movement on these pins, my manual mentions rubber dampers within the clutch basket , gear drive, any info would be a great help. Thanks |

What is tickoever RPM? It should be about 1100 rpm, below that gets rattly specially when cold. My personal opinion, the camchain is more likely than the clutch to make noises. The automatic tensioner pushes only so far. Some people change it to a manual tensioner. I have a 750 and is same engine architecture, just scaled up. The rubber dampers reside in secondary shaft, behind the crankshaft, not in clutch. The secondary shaft drives the clutch by gears.
