hi
just taken my 2000model zx6r for its mot. failed due to badly binding front brake (almost impossible to push bike). any advice on best way to fix this. ie should i try to clean front calipers myself or should i let a dealer do it. also front brake lever is not activating rear brake light. is the switch easy to locate and fix/replace.
grateful for any help and advice. :991 :scot

It depends on how bad really, me personally i'd have a go at it first before a dealer. Sounds like it needs some tlc.
Remove the caliper fork bolts, it may need some force with a rubber mallet to get it off the disc. Take the pads out then with mild soapy water and a tooth brush give it a good going over inside including the back of the pads. spray some WD40 or GT85 on the pistons and tey to push them back abit and put back together (put a small amount of copper grease on back of pads) and loosely to the forks to the and see if it works, if not it may need new seals. Without looking I think the switch is in the lever itself. the lever might need seals doing too.
