zx6r 1998 new rider; No Power High revs

Hello

Ive just bought a zx6r G1 my first big motorbike, it runs well at low revs and around town but i took it on the motorway and it seems to loose power at high revs, the revs go up but theres no power. am i riding in too higer revs ? any one have the same model bike as me and does this happen to you ? Any advice, tips ect would be very appreciated.

HI

I had one of these and at high revs i experienced clutch slip. At 7000rpm upwards and then a loss of power.I replaced the clutch springs (be carefull) and all was well until it got nicked!! Look at the oil you have in too as some non motorcycle oil makes the clutch play up. Also check your cable adjustment and make sure the clutch fully engages and disengages without drag

Thanks for the advice. I adjusted the freeplay on the clutch which seems to have done the trick.

Hi, i am having same problem on my 1995 zx6r,how did you adjust clutch? Thanks...

HI

I adjusted the free play by the clutch lever, started by loosening the circular nut closet to the clutch lever then turned the cable clock wise. works fine now. hope that help mate.
