i keep getting a clunking noise when i try to start my recently purchased bike. the noise is coming from the starter clutch area. i already replaced the starter and checked the teeth on the clutch. when i remove the oil fill cap and turn the bike over it keeps clunking and the clutch stops spinning. does anyone know if its a flywheel issue or has anyone had a similar problem? btw its a 94 ZX9R

hi
i had a similar problem with a gpz500 and a 900r and it turned out to be a fractured flywheel on the gpz 500 and a shattered alternator magnet on the 900r. Both were a days work to replace the bits but not major headaches as long as you have a mate with spare hands available.
