I was adjusting the carb with the air cleaners off because bike would not run except on choke. cleaned carb (complete dis-assesmble) now the kick starter will not budge the engine. How can I tell if the engine is seized and is there a way to un-seize without taking apart? The rear wheel just locks up if you try and bum start it. It was turning over and running fine(with choke ) before this started.

If you have been running the bike for any length of time with just the choke the chances are you may have over heated the engine and seized it. if the bike has been standing any length of time then chances are it is seized if you are going to try and unseize it with out stripping it 1st then i would get some light machine oil or a little bit of hydralic oil in the bores first and leave it to soke over night then without the spark plugs in try a large wrench preferably socket and breaker bar on the output nut (front sprocket) with the bike in gear and rear wheel off the ground or on the input shaft (clutch basket nut) if you dont have acess to paddock stand for liffting the back wheel. failing all this then you would have to strip it. good luck.

1 thing to add to that last comment DONT go hanging off the breaker bar remember you have seals and bearings in both input and output shafts if you knacker these you'll be stripping the engine anyway if it dont go with soaking it overnight and just simple pressure on the breaker bar then you have bigger problems.

Hi, sounds like a gearbox/ starter problem. Is the kickstarter dis-engaging?

Remove points cover. Apply socketwrench. Turn enine ClockWISE, carefully, and in neutral. Ignition off.

If it turns, you'r in luck. Then the kickstarter is the badguy. If it don't turn. Good luck. :cen
