Ninja is just a name. Kawasaki has applied it to almost any bike, sports or sporty, has sold.

The 1988 ZX10 was in that year a all out liter class sports bike, and about the fastest. I lusted about. It was not as radical as todays sports bike (thanks god), and in todays world, it would be more of a sport-tourer, like the Ninja Z1000 in character, even though today the all out Kawi sports bike is the ZX-10R(way too radical and impractical). What a difference 22 years make.

It was superseeded by the ZZR1100 (also know as the ZX11 in America) then the ZZR1200 and now the ZZR1400 (ZX14 USA), all of which fall into the "Kawasaki Touring Models" catergory.
Cheers Rog.
