Hi, I have recently bought a 2002 ZX9r FP1 ( the twin headlight model ). I am taking it to Holland as that is where I now live... Does anybody know if the headlight needs changing on this model for European riding? I have spoken to a Kawasaki dealer who tells me that most new bike have their headlights straight so they can be used all over Europe without the need for a change but he isn't sure about my year and model. Finally if they need to be changed, can they just be adjusted or do I need a complete assembly?

Thanks

You could just get the sticker for now to move the beam from right to left. Not sure if the dutch will pass this for the next MOT. I could find out as my mate works in Holland and is a mechanic in Holland and Germany who also do MOT's

Where about in Holland are you? i am popping over in two weeks for a bike rally down the south.

I live in Deventer... The bike is still registered in the UK but I have to change it as soon as possible as I need it to re register the bike in Holland..
If you could ask your friend that would be great.

Thanks

He needs to check if the headlamp is a flat lamp or a UK lamp, UK lamps need to be replaced with an EC flat beam or right hand beam. A flat beam (no angle) will pass an APK (MOT) here. Is he going to register himself in Holland because without an address he cannot register a vehicle. He also needs to see if this is worth it or not, if the bike is 5 years old or younger he will get a rather large BPM bill (import duty and luxury tax) even if it is tax paid in the UK. The speed ohmmeter has to show clearly KMH.

So it looks like you will need a Dutch MOT. You can still get the sticker and run it as a UK bike until the MOT is due then change over. This will give you time to get a new lamp.

This is the rally i am going to http://www.mcdekleppenjagers.nl/ Its North west of Venlo. Looks about 80-100 miles from you if rallies are your thing.
