If you do then let it at least get up to normal running temp then +20/30 mins otherwise if it only reaches running temp then ya switch it off it can cause condensation in the zorst pipe, head, cases, and poss tank wich can lead to rust ect. Also an optimiiser is always a good idea. All that said thats only my opinion, other people might do things differently. I try to take mine round the block at least once a week too just to keep everything moving lol. |

Good advice from bigzlittlez. If bike is stored for any prolonged periods you might want to consider paddock stands as well. The tyres may develop flat spots if sited for long periods, which would be costly. |

Only start it if your going for at least a 10 mile trip .Dont be tempted to start it just to see if it will . I always remove the battery keep it frost free .Charge and discharge it regularly .Drain the oil when hot.Old oil is contaminated with combustion acids and will even destroy roller bearings . Fill with new oil and a filter . Remove the plugs put some oil down the bores put the pliugs back tight . Blow the tyres up hard and lift them clear of the floor .Give it a good clean and wax polish or spray all the chrome and alloy with wd 40 .Fill the tank to the brim and use an conditioning addative . cover with a cotton sheet and a old wool blanket .Make a list of all the things you've done fix it to the bike . Thats my best bike . I've got an old Honda CD165 that's my winter ride it goes out one day most weeks just to clear the cobwebs I'm out untill my fingers tingle then turn for home .

Do the easy bit then just dont start if to see if it will .Watch the weather and when you start it give it at least a 10 mile run .Or just change the oil take the battery off sheet it up till spring presumably the bike is clean !!!! |
