Hi, thought i'd post a pic of me and my bike as I am missing it due to my accident . I only just had it lowered as well so that stopping on a hill (mainly going down hill) I can get my feet on the floor comfortably, I'm 5ft6. I could get the balls of my feet on the floor but ended up on tippy toe on steep down hills. So not had much chance to check it out. As soon as I'm better i will Can anyone spot my gloves?

What happened to you. Like the photo. It must have been the start / end of winter to put your gloves there. Richard

That was a trip to Scotland last year at the end of June when we went to Dornoch on the east coast. It was a very long day as that was taken on th Isle of Skye and got 72mpg that day following my husband on a VN900. Filled the bikes up 20miles from Dornoch then again coming away from Isle of Skye, wasn't willing to pay over £1.50 a litre on Skye so managed to put fuel in about 20miles riding with flashing light on rapid onto the mainland where it was about £1.45. We were on a bit of a budget last year at that time, but it was worth it, toured all round the North of Scotland .I was traveling to work, early morning start, sun was up, good road surface and clear dry day. I was overtaking a couple of cars when a dark green car hit me almost head on. The policeman called it 'Green Car Syndrome' cos I saw the road as being clear so I did all the usual checks as you do and got about half way down a Seat driver that was the first car in front of me when Bang, I'm laid out on the road with people around me. On this stretch of road in the distance from where I was is some trees either side of the road and the policeman recons the dark green car was driving under them, he didn't have his lights on either. The impact is shown in the picture as my engine took the brunt of it. Got replacement engine, had the foot rests welded, back and front. Think when bike landed thats when handle bars hit the road they ended up with a slight kink in them so having those replaced, also handle bar brake lever snapped off so replaced that as well. All in all my bike is being rebuilt and I'm on the mend to. I came away with a fractured shoulder and a lot of bruising down one side. Just waiting now to see what the insurance company says cos I only had tft.

Picked Bike up yesterday but my hubby had to ride it back for me as my shoulder is taking a bit of time to heal but I'm getting there and can't wait to get back on it. Back to work Monday thou but i'm on light duties as I'm not allowed to carry anything for at least 3weeks. My bike cost £1500 to put right. Still have one or to bits to get for it as the radiator took the brunt of it so its missing the cheek piece on the right hand side. Radiator never leeked and the temp' never went up on the gage. All the bits in the photo that was broken and hanging off was welded back together so that save some money. I will take another couple of pic's to put up of bike repaired. Now its down to me

Got some Pic's of my bike after being repaired. On the right side you will notice the cheek piece missing that covers the radiator which I'm looking for to replace but both sides. Both foot pegs on the right was welded back together as the rear is part of the exhurst bracket and on the left it was the gear and foot peg was snapped off so that was welded back onto the bracket. Plus a used engine that had done the third of the miles mine had done. Been out on her now and the only thing that shows that's she's been in a accident is the missing cheek piece. And if you look closely the few scratches.

Guess it all just shows how careful you got to be doesn't it. Miss seeing something and you're in trouble. You really do have to expect the unexpected and the dumb clucks are so inventive when it comes to finding ways of catching us out. Green car syndrome, like it, I hadn't heard it put like that before, but green cars, especially dark green cars are the hardest to see because they blend in with both the road surface and any surrounding hedges, trees etc. and even more so if they are in shadow. I suspect there is also a psychological element that we have an in-built tendency to discount anything green. From the details I have seen on here I don't think you stand a chance of getting a pay out, because you were overtaking at the time. Still you managed the living bit, and presumably you have also learned something from it. Call it a (very) painful lesson. I know what you mean about missing your bike. I tend t have to run cheap oldies due to lack of funds (currently a 1992 ZZR1100C), so once they blow up it sis usually a case of sell for spares or repair and save for the next one. Mind you a did that with the Ducati 750SS I (briefly) owned and got nearly as much back as I paid for it, lol. Love my current ZZR as it is very similar to its smaller cousin, the ZX10 I had before the Duke. |
