Hello. I just bought a 1978 Kawasaki KZ 1000 LTD in fantastic shape. It just needs the carbs to be overhauled and engine gaskets as oil is leaking, normal for 35 years. I am trying to find out the size of the fuel lines as I tried to Google it but it did not tell me anything conclusive. I need to replace all the lines and waned to know if anyone knew? I also need to send the carbs to get them rebuilt, glass beaded so they look like new and work as new carbs. Does anyone know who does carb rebuilds? I pulled them off the bike, and I was lucky to find NOS boots for them when I put them back on. nice new rubber. I posted a couple of pics below. Thanks for your help,Larry

I've owned a 1977 Kz1000, and now own a 1982 GPz 1100 B2 model. The stock I.D. fuel lines are 5/16" (.312"), and will fit the carb and petcock fittings, using small worn style hose clamps, but I'd imagine the small, black tie wraps would work, if snugged down, with a pair of needle nose pliers. For carb overhauls/rebuilds, look here: Carb Service http://www.wgcarbs.com http://motorcyclecarburetorrebuild.com/ http://www.vintagecarbs.com/Home_Page.html http://www.oldskoolcarbs.com/ |

When I changed the fuel lines on my LTD I just took an old line down to the local motor factors and matched it up...

I found out that the lines are 1/4 inch. Sent he carbs out to be rebuilt and should have them this week. Cannot wait to install them and fire it up. Bike ran great, carbs were leaking from age. Had them completely restored. |
