Hi can anyone give me some idea as to what maybe wrong?
I have a GT550 g7 which has a problem with its carbs
the bike will rev up nice and clean and tick over fine
but when you do rev it the revs take a age to drop
iv'e cleaned the carbs and replaced the floot needles both throttle cables are working fine. the carb shut down when the throttle is closed so now im at a real loss.
So before i take a large hammer to it please help.

hi, most likely reason is an air leak in the system somewhere, check all the carb rubbers, also get the carbs balanced as can also cause problems

Hi thanks for that.
I checked for air leaks (sprayed inlet pipes with soapy water) All looks fine.
Spent last hour trying to balance carbs.
Could get 1 and 2 inline could get 3 and 4 inline but could not get all 4 inline with each other. the engine just revs away with its self.
so now as i look around that large hammer is looking very close and may well be used soon
Any one want a cheap 550???????

I had carb diaphrams on a gt550 (rubber things on top of each carb.they split) replaced for a
similar problem. On a golden oldie like the gt550 you really need to
strip and clean the carbs jets etc and balance them if it hasn't already been done.
